Eligibility and Application Process
To be eligible for the Canada Greener Homes Grant, homeowners must meet certain criteria:
1. Household Eligibility:
- Homeowners must register for the grant through the Homeowner Portal or by calling 1-833-674-8282. Due to high call volumes, online registration is recommended.
- Proof of ownership and residence is required during the registration process.
- The home must be the homeowner’s primary residence. Rentals are not eligible.
- The home must be at least six months old based on the date of occupancy of the first homeowner.
2. Property Types:
- Eligible property types include single and semi-detached houses, row housing, townhomes, all-season cottages, mobile homes on a permanent foundation, permanently-moored floating homes, mixed-use buildings (residential portion only), and small multi-unit residential buildings (three stories or less with a footprint of 600 m² or less).
- Indigenous governments or organizations, housing management bodies, and other representative or Indigenous service delivery organizations with formal partnerships with Indigenous governments or organizations are also eligible.
3. Upgrade Eligibility:
- Homeowners must have both a pre-retrofit and a post-retrofit EnerGuide evaluation to qualify for reimbursement.
- Upgrades must align with the recommendations provided in the Renovation Upgrade Report received from the energy advisor after the pre-retrofit evaluation.
- Eligible upgrades include home insulation, air-sealing, windows and doors, thermostats, heating systems, renewable energy solutions, and resiliency measures.
