How Should I Maintain My HVAC System?

HVAC systems are a part of people’s day-to-day lives. It is hard to sustain a day without using HVAC systems. They work hard to comfort you and your family. HVAC systems allow you to live in your comfort every season, irrespective of the outside temperature.

But to make an HVAC system work effectively, it needs proper maintenance. Also, maintaining an HVAC system will increase its lifespan. So, here are some simple maintenance tips every HVAC owner must know:

Change the Filters

Air conditioners help us to stay far from the burning sun. Air conditioners have become a part of our summer routine. It keeps us safe throughout the hot season. But sometimes, we feel that the air conditioner is not working at its complete efficiency. That is because of the clogged filters. Air conditioners need regular replacement of filters. It is ideal for replacing filters every two months.

The air from outside enters our house only after it gets filtered through the filters. As a result, a lot of dust and debris gets accumulated in the filters and makes them clogged. Clogged filters do not allow air to pass through them. Hence, replacing/cleaning filters regularly will result in increased efficiency. That can be done by you, as an HVAC owner. You do not need to reach a professional technician to get your filters replaced.

Water Leakage

HVAC systems release water when they are in use. Usually, released water will go out with the help of hose pipes. But, if you notice any water leaking from the indoor or outdoor units, you need to pay attention to this issue. Not getting this problem solved will result in system failure. Hence, it is ideal to search for and choose one of the best HVAC contractors in Cambridge, Ontario.

Condensing Unit

Most AC owners forget that there is also an outside unit for their system. As this condensing unit gets placed outside the house, it requires extra maintenance. The outdoor unit gets exposed to various weather conditions, and the fan gets accumulated dust and debris. Also, there might be a few bushes and plants growing around the condensing unit, which need to get cleared to have proper airflow.

Leaving this dust without cleaning will result in slowing down the efficiency of the fan. But do not use a water pipe with high pressure.

Ductwork Inspection

Inspecting the ductwork of your air conditioner every six months is considered to be ideal. Our day-to-day activities release a lot of dust, and this dust usually gets accumulated in the ductwork. Clogged ductwork will decrease the cooling capacity of the air conditioner. If you notice any debris in the ductwork, do not ignore it. Get it cleared as soon as possible.

Maintaining an HVAC system will surely reduce the financial damage caused. The HVAC system needs to be checked by a professional HVAC technician every year to avoid bigger issues. B.A.P.
